Plastics and rubber technologist (m/f/d) specializing in molding (injection molding)

When training to become a plastics and rubber technologist specializing in molding (injection molding), you will learn how to produce numerous workpieces and molded parts from polymer materials.

Training content:

The 3-year apprenticeship is divided into two sections. In the first year you will learn important basic knowledge, from the second year you will acquire special knowledge in the field of molding.

The main topics of the apprenticeship include

• Production processes in plastics technology: manufacturing workpieces and molded parts from polymer materials, selecting suitable manufacturing processes and materials
• Measurement, control and regulation technology: setting up machines and systems for production, monitoring the production process, quality inspection and maintenance of molded parts
• Materials science
• Environmental protection and occupational safety

Prospects:

After your apprenticeship, you will have excellent prospects for the future: You will have extensive knowledge of production processes in the plastics industry and can work in different company departments. You can work in companies in the plastics and rubber processing industry as well as in companies in the chemical industry (for example at a manufacturer of primary plastics).

If you would like to improve your career prospects even further, you can train to become an industrial foreman or technician or complete a degree in plastics technology.
